January 6, 2017: "Computing Overview: BD2K Guide to the Fundamentals of Data Science" by Patricia Kovatch

Lecture Abstract: Computing is a fundamental enabler of modern science and presents both immense opportunities and challenges. Selecting effective computational tools and approaches can make scientific discovery more efficient. This talk will cover the motivation for computation, the process for gathering requirements, the selection of appropriate tools including validation, and the evaluation and refinement of the computational approach.
